Ever since reading the Wild Mountain Scots series I was curious about Maddock and Max's parents. So, going into this one I had somewhat of an idea of what would happen.

So, for the most part I was genuinely surprised there wasn't as much drama as I expected. Naturally there was drama about getting custody of his daughter but I expected another side whether that be related to Ally and his baby girl or Scarlet and her work. But, I was pleasantly surprised by the fact the only real drama was the custody battle for his daughter.

I guess I expected more considering I knew details surrounding how he learned he was a father and Kaylee's family. Even Ally's accident that leaves him scarred. This I knew but somehow it didn't seem all that big a deal in the actual story the way it did when talked about in the kids books later on.

So, anyway. I really really liked this one. I wasn't sure where I'd fall on liking Scarlet but aside from one or two decisions she made I really liked her. I did. I also loved Alasdair.

More than anything I loved their connection together. I liked that things weren't so easy for them and it took a level of maturity to wade through it all and figure it out. Both Scarlet and Ally did that.

I adored Scarlet and Ally together though. And even though there were many references to Scarlet having a crush on him from the moment she met him at fourteen and even Ally claiming he fell in love at sixteen when he first saw her I didn't hate them. The references, that is. Because they did feel genuine and mostly the real feelings developed after the fact and in later years as they circled one another in their busy lives. Specifically when they finally crossed the line of friends and kissed. It was a huge moment between them and only confirmed their mutual attraction and desire for one another. And as they try to navigate their need for one another life intervenes in the form of a child Ally had no idea about and then a horrible accident that set him even further on a path away from the young man he once was. One he even comes to dislike a little. He grew so much in this book because he had to but he also liked the man he was becoming. He wanted to be a good father to his daughter and to make her proud, to make his older brother Callum and his twin proud.

I loved how much he put into bettering himself. I especially loved seeing him be brave and confront Scarlet after his accident. He was vulnerable and insecure. Worried about how her feelings or attraction would change once she saw his scars but Scarlet surprised him in the best way. She accepted him entirely and thought him beautiful and it lit him up from the inside.

I really loved that Scarlet felt she had to prove her feelings to him. That it wasn't all based on attraction or sex. So, calling for no sex and for them to date was a wonderful idea even though it drove them both crazy resisting one another. But I thought it very important to the foundation of their relationship to prove that to themselves especially because it effected more than just him but his daughter's future.

I loved the epilogue. The scene with Callum and his boys talking at Ally's wedding made me tear up. It was so cute.

Again it's so difficult to write a review. I think the more I love a book, the more I have problems finding the right words 🙈

Ally is so full of self-doubt. He thinks he is a loser. He is just a model but can't do anything else. He left school because he wasn't good and thinks because of his dyslexia he won't be good on anything ever. And now he is a dad of a newborn whose mom just died and he has to prove that he is worth raising her. As if that wasn't enough already, there is Scarlet. The girl he fell in love with when he was 16 and she was 14. But she is his brother's sister-in-law.

To see the development of Scarlet in all the books is fascinating. She had so many problems with her dad but they are all gone now. He is so supportive now 🩷
Also, Ally grew up in the years since he first met Scarlet. It could all be so easy, but that wouldn't be a book written by Jolie 😎 There had to be drama and other things. And they happen. They happen a lot. And I cried and cried and cried. But one thing is for sure (because it's a romance book and romance books always have a HEA), the love between Scarlet and Ally is stronger than anything.

The moment when Ally met his little baby girl for the first time. God, I couldn't stop crying how cute and emotional it was 🥺 He is such a wonderful dad 🩷

This is the last book in the first series. I can't say what book is my favorite, but Ally and Scarlet's story is special.

I'll miss the brothers, even though they appear all the time in the other series. But I already read most of the Scot's series, so I'll jump into Max's story next. Max is one of Scarlet and Ally's twins (no spoiler because it's already been published for a long time 😎).

I'll end my review with a quote from Ally: "It’s the end of an era of us as single men."

Ally is a model. Scarlett is a business woman. His brother is married to her sister. But they’ve actually loved eachother since they were teenagers. He has a kid he didn’t know about whose mother is dead. The story revolves around him trying to get his kid and the girl. A great ending to the stories of the four McRae brothers.

I always forget how much ai love Ally and Scarlet until I read or listen to them. Scarlet has been through alot to get to where she is and her relationship with her family. Ally has always been the joker of the family. A model until he finds out he has a daughter. The journey for him is a bumpy one but Scarlet being by his side definitely helps. Their spicy time together is next level.

I was looking forward to this book so much after Picture This but a part of me was sad as Ally is the last brother in the McRae family so it's the end of an amazing series
