what stands out the most to me after rereading shadow kiss is mead’s skill in characterization. from the very start of this book, there’s a clear shift in rose’s internal monologue compared to the last two books, highlighting just how clever mead is at executing her major plot points (as seen with rose’s mood change after unconsciously bearing lissa’s side affects)

WOW! and if I didnt think the series was going to get better, it just did! This novel is a definate tearjerker so have your tissues at the ready. Rose continues to be my favourite character, she's pretty, smart, funny, a fighter, strong and can totally kick some butt! The other characters are pretty awesome too though as you'll find out if you pick this book up!
Throughout the novel there were parts that were intense, shocking and again another book I found it hard to put down. The ending wasn't exactly what I was hoping to read but thinking about it now it really couldnt have ended any other way to keep the series what it is. I can't really say too much without spoiling the storyline which as you all know its a spoiler free zone around here! This book definately shows you the possibilities are endless and I can't wait to see what Mead has in store for us in book 4 Blood Promise.

More like 3.5 stars, but I'm not willing to give it a full four. Definitely more enjoyable than the previous books in the series, but I'm getting very frustrated with Rose's incessant nagging and self -deprecating. She seems to flip between extremes of character even when she's not taking in bad auras and her bad decisions remind me too much of America Singer, which is not necessarily a good thing. Regardless, I have hope for the last three books in the series and where the plot might go.

3.5 stars, that i’m rounding up. definitely my least favorite in the series so far. my main problems were the length, and the plot. it felt so long, but it also felt like nothing was happening. we definitely get some important information about the world and the characters, but everything between just felt like filler. i really really liked the end though, and i think it’s a great setup for the next book, i just wish the whole book had been as action packed. maybe it’s because it’s a book 3, which i feel like is a lot of filler in a lot of other series too. still love that characters and series though, even if this wasn’t my favorite. and i’m really excited for book 4. oh, but lissa was kinda annoying, especially in the last chapter.
