It’s almost 4 stars for me, because I think the characters are so epic, but I just think the manga drags a bit… Also the noble peoples crimes were a little unbelievable? They seemed so incredibly specific and brutal o^o. I didn’t really enjoy reading that. Overall it was very gory and violent… I‘m probably not going to continue with the manga, but I might watch the anime and some point, because Sherlock and Moriarty >o<!!

Moriarty the Patriot is a manga series that follows William and Louis Moriarty who were orphans taken in by a rich family who mistreated them. When they help the eldest son take over the Moriarty name, they get a group together to take down the corrupt aristocrats in London society. But their plans might be in jeopardy when Sherlock Holmes gets involved.
This has to be my favorite volume of the manga so far. It really made me fall in love with the Morairty group and their respect for each other. I was absolutely in love with this manga volume so much. This really has my heart.
First off, I really loved that we got to see Sherlock and Watson in action in this manga. The first half of it was about Sherlock trying to solve a case and I loved Sherlock and Watson's dynamic so much. Sherlock is such a chaos demon but he also clearly has a feeling for the people that he is investigating. I really loved getting to know those two.
However, my absolute favorite part of this manga volume was the Moriarty groups dynamic. In particular, Louis and Fred had one way they thought of William and it was changed by speaking to Moran which I loved. I loved seeing how much William really cares for the people in his group. I loved seeing this group come together to bring down a bunch of aristocrats. This was one of my favorite volumes for character development.
I also just adore the art style in this manga. It's perfectly balanced where the manga is just detailed enough that you can get a sense of the world but it doesn't take away from the story. I really loved stopping to just admire the art in this manga.
Overall, this has to be my favorite volume for various reasons. I am so glad that I picked up this series and I cannot wait to continue. If you are interested in Moriarty as a character, please pick this up.

Okay, the series is starting to pick up a little bit. I really enjoyed seeing John and Sherlock interacting, and I really like how Sherlock's personality is done in this adaptation.

And I also really enjoyed seeing Fred and Louis's respective characters get developed a little more.
I thought it was interesting how both of them have a certain distance from William, considering that one is his own brother and the other is his subordinate. There was a little side comic at the end of one of the two previous volumes that touched briefly on Louis feeling like he doesn't really do much to help his brother achieve their shared goals, and I was wondering if they would touch on that again or if it was just a one-time joke. I hope this is explored more.

Might be over thinking this, but the cover of volume 1 features William in front of a red background, and volume 2 features Sherlock in front of a blue background... Volume 3 has Louis in front of a purple background. Is this foreshadowing Louis some kind of future plot point where Louis wavers?

This was a little hard to get through because of certain aspects of the subject matter, so please look at the content warnings to see if there is anything you can't stomach.
