I love a mafia romance but this felt like it was maybe trying a little too hard to be dark but came off as just.. trying a little too hard

Really Liked this one.
Very strong fmc.

Both with very sad and disturbing pasts, better Check the trigger warnings before.

"I smile at my feet, keeping on my way. The woman makes me smile. I can't help it."

Jodi Ellen Malpas is easily my favourite author ever. I love her writing.
I only read her series Hunt Legacy Duology. This series writing was definitely different in a way it is darker, bloody, angst, sexual tension pretty high and also a lot of storytelling on trigger warning issues such as child trafficking, suicide, self-harm, rape, abuse and more.

I devour this so quickly and fell in love with it so hard.
Only 20% into the book I was already in love with Danny Black and Rose Cassidy.
This sexual tension was so high and it went on for quite a long time.
We got angst, surprisingly a lot of humour, dark humour, sarcasm and I love we got a lot of action in the mafia world other than focusing on the romance.

Thank God we got both characters POV, so it's easier to understand their intertwine plotline, their emotions and their character growth. Which was amazing! Each of their own personal stories, their character development was so good and satisfactory to each of their characters.

Although JEM's plotline stories are just simple and a little predictable at times, her storytelling and her writing get you so addicted that it does surprise you in a way and get you so emotionally attached to everything.

"I've heard whispers about Danny Black. His influence. His power. His ruthless and brutal approach to business. But no one ever said he's beautiful."
