This book has so many details it makes it hard to read. Imagine reading the minutes from a meeting in book form. Not my cup of tea.

The book was alright. I enjoyed reading the historical context of the situation as well as reading further into the mind of Anastasia. I thought the author (Caroline Meyers) did an excellent job characterizing the tsar's family (from their day to day life to their individual personalities). Anastasia's character was fun to read, especially her snooping Olga's journal entries.

I only gave it 3 stars because the book didn't captivate me. It took me 10 days to read, which is really long for me, especially since it's rather short. I think the main reason that it took me so long to read was the drawn out events, which just got very repetitive and dull.

So in all, I enjoyed learning more about Anastasia, her family, and that entire situation. I appreciated that the book chronicled from way before WWII to the end (their execution). I liked the author's characterizations, but I disliked the slow pace the book moved.

A young adult book from Anastasia's point of view; we watch her descend from the height of monarchy as a Grand Duchess of Russia to the pitiful end in the cellar of the House of Special Purpose.

Eh. I wasn't enthralled with it. As someone else said, having read it too close to The Family Romanov, it failed to hold my interest.

A really beautiful story about Anastasia Romanov and her family. Through this book we got to see into the lives of the Romanov family. We saw what their lives were like when they were younger and how everything changed gradually until their final moments. The final chapters were truly heartbreaking. The writing felt like we were reading from Anastasia's private diary. I would recommend it to everyone that loves history and especially russian history.

Another version of the Romanov history told through the POV of Anastasia.

Yes, the book was decent, but I get tired of all the stories being told via Anastasia's voice. She may have been the best known due to the imposters who pretended to be her, but you never really hear much through her older sisters' POV. I can think of maybe one or two books off hand.

Great book especially for those who don't know much about WWI. Makes it interesting to learn about it. A little vague on the reason for the revolution in Russia.

More like 3.5 stars. I guess you'd call this a biography in novel form, geared to the YA crowd. While it's not exactly a page-turner, I did find it well-written and very interesting. Some part of my mind has always known that for centuries, the nobles of different countries married to form political alliances, but this really brought that home to me and helped me understand a lot more about this period of history. I would definitely read more of Meyer's books.
