Baby Feminists Too by Libby Babbott-Klein

There are a lot of "BE A FEMINIST, BABY! FEMINISM FEMINISM FEMINISM!" books now. This one isn't trying so hard, so it feels...approachably cool. It's *actually* fun (lift the flaps!), cute (I didn't know I needed to see Frida Kahlo and Mae Jemison envisioned as babies, but I did), and has a good but not overwhelming handful -- not avalanche -- of notable people for a fresh new human to begin learning about.

The one drawback is that it does still reinforce a gender binary, particularly in its definition of feminism at the end.

(Thanks, Leeleemasi!)

The text is too repetitive for my taste, but I love everything else about this lift-the-flap book.

I love the peekaboo flap structure of this book, and it's fairly sturdy too. It makes it engaging for my little one who loves lifting the flaps to see the baby underneath (much aided by the repetition of the "a baby!" line). The art is good and the choices are solid. I like that there is a "key" at the end. This is a favorite in our house.

Lovely art and, like the first in this series, age appropriate descriptions of inspirational women. The lift the flap style is engaging to little ones, as is the repetitive structure of the story, which allows them to participate. As in the first, I appreciate the mini biographies.

Super cute! Let my son pick out a book in Barnes and Nobel and this is what he chose! No complaints here :)
