I wasn't sure I would be interested in a switched at birth thriller, but holy hell this gripped me. It had enough psychopathy, narcissism, and failings of the legal and social services systems where I just couldn't devour it fast enough! It's not half as dry or straightforward as it the synopsis sounds, and I was positively quaking with rage by the end.

This domestic thriller about swapped babies at birth and just how far parents will go to protect the child they love was just what I didn’t know I needed! At first, everyone plays “nice” but soon the drama ensues.

While this topic has certainly been covered before, I was impressed to find the number of issues and topics author JP Delaney was able to interweave into this compulsive plotline. I had a hard time putting this one down and am definitely adding it to my summer thriller’s recommendation list!

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House for a gifted copy in exchange for an honest review. My full review will be posted on genthebookworm.com closer to the publication date.

I don’t really know that I can adequately put my thoughts and feelings into words after finishing this novel.

In this post-apocalyptic world - we’re following the lives of a few individuals prior, during, and post a pandemic known as the “Georgia Flu”. Taking out a majority of the world’s population, those that remain are forced to survive without electricity, food, homes, and so much more.

Had we not experienced COVID-19, I don’t think that this book would have had the same effect on me that it did having lived through it. While devastating in its own way, reading this book makes me realize just how fortunate we are to have come out the other side of the COVID-19 pandemic.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that believes they can handle it. It is incredibly well written, descriptive and detailed without being overwhelming, with a beautiful story written between the bad things. The only complaint I have with the novel - and my reason for knocking off a star is due to the ending which in my opinion felt a bit rushed.

I’m looking forward into reading additional works by this author.

Read this because of a review on TikTok . Um…mind blown!
NICU premies swapped at birth, found out 2 years later. Court cases between the two families, one rich, one not rich. Mysterious accidents. A whole lot of lies.
Reminds me of “Gone Girl” in which I was thinking there were no redeeming characters but the ending showed different …kinda.
