I like this one better than the previous werewolf one. I feel like it introduced the mystery of the missing women and gave us glimpses of that mission throughout the book, unlike the first book where we had no clue who could possibly have hexed the werewolf.

I really liked Isadora. I felt she was really relatable to me. She is an introverted person who knows her own mind and what she likes.

Devraj was definitely sexy and grew on me over time, but I'm just not into playboys and flirty guys in general.

I didn't like the angst and lack of communication that held things up by the last third of the book.

I do like how this has a lot of consent between the two lovers and the spicy scenes were hot and sweet at the same time.

Very fun read :) steamy, paranormal open-door rom-com, but not too bizarre for the paranormal world. Very sex-positive characters.

This second book had more plot outside of the main couple going on than the first one, and I liked how it allowed for more character introductions and exploration of the supernatural community of New Orleans. You can definitely tell the author is drawing from her own love of the city, so it's a little "spend a day in New Orleans like a local!" but not in a really overt way. More focus on the vampire community this time around and a mystery to investigate.
Isadora is a little guarded at first in an understandable way, and while Devraj is a bit pushy about making her like him, it is sweet when they eventually get together and he becomes very doting.

I thought this would be at least a 4 star, but it ended up falling pretty flat for me. Same as the first book, the conflict at the end was wrapped up very quickly and easily which I personally don't love. I know these books are meant to focus on the romance, but the plot and conflict are decent enough that the resolution should also be decent. (Also, I really disliked the insanely cringe ending.)

This book was definitely hot and spicy and I loved the sensual and seductive aspect of the vampire romance, but it felt a little cheesier and rushed than the first book. Don't get me wrong, the first book was definitely cheesy and a tad rushed, but I felt hooked the whole time. This book I was hooked maybe half the time, or like 65% or something.

I'm worried that the more that's established with each book, the more boring they're going to get as they go on. There will be less and less mystery and intrigue surrounding the characters and their histories, so I'm worried how this is going to be handled. Basically, I hope that by the time we get to the next book we're not already bored with the characters that we've been reading about in small chunks in all the previous books.

I thought the writing in this book compared to the first one was much better. The connection between Dev and Isadora felt more genuine. I thought separately they were fleshed out and I was actually invested into them. The development of their connection was a bit rushed but otherwise is good. Again, going from point A to point B was too abrupt and I don't enjoy this author's writing too much
