[b:Killing Floor|78129|Killing Floor (Jack Reacher, #1)|Lee Child|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1399313258s/78129.jpg|4511038] was a great read. It's a gritty mystery with a pretty decent cast. I enjoyed getting to know Jack Reacher and the plot was fast and entertaining. I look forward to reading more of the Reacher novels.

Great drama and violence, but several major plot twists were slightly far fetched, the plot itself was unoriginal and the excessive use of short sentences drove me insane.

Total junk read, but I still enjoyed it. Probably a nice palate cleanser between more serious books. I never love action sequences, so I did skim through those (and there were quite a few). Felt like I was reading a Derrick Storm novel. Thought the character of Jack Reacher got a bit more over-the-top as the story went on. I'd read another, but not ready to run out and grab it right this second.

I really wasn’t loving experiencing the first person POV of a man in the 90s.

I read this after watching the show and while I enjoyed the book, I was disappointed by the personality (or lack there-of) that was given to Jack. I like the show better and this was not rated as the best book in the series so other books could be better.

So really 3.5 stars, - as far as the thriller genre goes, this was good, but it's very over the top in the fact that it's written by a man for men about a man's man. While the 'sweet, sexy, southern female cop' who will sleep with you the moment you've been released from the prison you were thrown into due to a wrong conviction might be some men's fantasy, for me, it's a total eye-roller. Still, the plot was thorough (could actually have been 25% shorter, somehow) and you learn a few facts about a particular type of crime (it would be a spoiler to tell you which one).

Liked it but wouldn't pick it up again. I am learning this genre is not for me.
