I felt so grateful to read this book about lifelong monk and spiritual leader becoming a homeless wanderer on a 4.5 year retreat. This autobiographical story, told in beautifully simple and accessible prose, interwove spiritual teaching with common, every-day difficulties like riding on a train, dealing with money, and more. It's guidance I long for on my own spiritual journey, where my own challenges often have to do with the simple conversations I have with friends and family, or with choices about money, how to eat / sustain oneself, etc. I only wish the book had been longer and followed Migyur Yongey Rinpochey on the entirety of his 4.5 year journey. But I remain grateful for the focus on the immediate challenges he faced leaving a monastery and setting out into day-to-day, worldly life. It was a gift to read this book!
