Hot mess of soap opera characters. Way too many characters with full stories and not enough background of the tower or the future setting itself. All that was missing was a long lost twin. Gossip girl meets the future and unfortunately not in a good way.

📈: Plot was engaging. World building was tough at first but became more manageable as the book went on. I enjoyed the characters as a whole but favored a few storylines over the others.

🌶️: 1/5 Closed door but has multiple mentions within the plot. Nothing graphic

Honestly I don't know what to think. I liked this book but it was not at all what I thought it would be like. It reminds me of gossip girl. However, this world is so cool, but the plot so scattered. I wish there had been less POVs and more plot. But I love the world and some of the characters.

This was an okay book, but I'll be honest, I only read it for the futuristic parts of it. Reading books about teenagers drinking and partying is not my thing and if it wasn't for the fact that it was set in the future I probably would have stopped reading it. However, the prologue also kept me reading - I had to find out how it ended. 3/5 Stars.

i feel like people who enjoy reality tv would like this book. the characters where cliches and mostly unlikable (I hated Avery with a passion) but they were fun to follow. like bad tv, there's just so much drama that you can turn off your brain and enjoy it for what it is.

This book was decently written. The vocabulary was quite advanced and I had to look up words often. In addition, this book was extremely diverse. However, the content and themes of the book were difficult to get through. I’ll give you one word to describe my main issue. Incest. It’s not really a spoiler because you see it coming on page three and then it’s confirmed on page 6 or something but it’s still creepy. There is one LGBT character in this book which I liked and personally thought was decently written, even thought this book does follow the “kill your gays” trope. That IS a spoiler. Maybe don’t read this? I’d have to be either very bored or very curious to continue the trilogy. And I’m 0/2 right now.
