Just a quick disclaimer: I ended up skipping a few chapters (after 50%) so there could have been important things I had missed‼️
First off: I really enjoyed the writing!!!! I thought it was so good and the book was written so well.

What I liked:
1.The writing (obviously)
2. The characters. I thought Allison was so funny, I was smiling the entire time and maybe even giggled a couple times. Also, props to the author for making Lucas feel like an actual person. I was actually able to care about him, he was so freaking cute!! and gave me baby fever🤍🤍🥹🥹🥹. The way him and Allison instantly connected was everything. Not to mention Elena’s relationship with Lucas????? Gah! She was such a good mom. Speaking of which, Elena and Allison’s relationship were so pure and filled with fluff :’) they were head over heels for one another. Overall, I was able to easily connect to the characters and care about them!

What I disliked:
The pacing after 50% felt really slow (imo). I struggled to finish the book. Specifically, the book didn’t give me a reason to continue reading; all you could read about after the characters got together was how in love they were - and that was a bit boring to me.

Favorite Quotes:
“Munchkin!” She twirled her
son around and planted a dozen little kisses across his face.

“Allison, I adore
you.”

Allison’s
entire body felt like it was on fire just from touching Elena.

“You are
so much more than a small part, Allison,” she whispered. “You are
so much more.”

It was embedded in her cells as if she had
always known it, as if all the days of her life that she
spent feeling unlucky and unloved and alone were eradicated by its
presence, and all that remained was Elena and Lucas. Family. Love.
Belonging.

Still love this book. The narrator is fantastic. She does the best little kid voice I have ever heard and just turns little Lucas into the cutest thing ever. I looked for other books read by her but it seems like this is the only book she has narrated? That is a shame. Still a very sweet story with very little angst. A great read for when you want something well written and as cozy as your favorite blanket.

This book is a balm to my romantic soul. If you just want a super cute story with great characters, good dialog, funny moments, steamy moments, movie worthy romantic moments than this is the book you need to listen to. Also there is no unnecessary drama for drama's sake. The narration is amazing as well. I will definitely be listening to this again. The only teeny-tiny peeve I have with it is the fact that a 27 year old character used the word "dear" so much. It's such a grandma word it bugged me every time.

ugh the characters were so flat that i often couldn't tell who was speaking . I know they're supposed to be emme and regina from OUAT but had none of their bite, complex dynamics, and characterisations. Like I can't tell you anything about them it was all boring. this is breaking my streak of enjoying published fanfictions

This is the second book I read by this author, after [b:The Art of Us|35335057|The Art of Us|K.L. Though I did not enjoy it as much, it's still a very nice read. It was a bit long for me at times, and I thought Allison was a little obnoxious sometimes but I was nevertheless rooting for her (as if there were any doubt of a HEA) because she and Elena were so different and yet so good for each other. The novel is well-written, with a lightness of heart I really liked, even on tough topics (being a foster kid, an unwanted pregnancy), which only makes the characters stronger. If you're looking for a romance between complex but good people, with wit and a good sense of humor, you've found it.

I have never had a book turn around on me as much as this one did. Let's start with the good (because there's a whole lot of it): This was a wonderfully fun couple finding themselves as a side-effect of unsuccessful blind dates. And the way Elena's family terrified and then welcomed Alison was truly wonderful to see. It was also fun to see that tug-of-war within each of the lovers, wanting to share those wonderful first-time experiences together, but also wanting to take things slowly enough to be sure it wasn't "just sex" for either of them.

There are only two things I would change about this book, both of them small: One of them is the opening. The scene where we meet Elena and Vivian, I couldn't stand either of them. I was regretting having bought the book and wondering what was wrong with the members of the book club who had voted it this month's book. But then, in the very next scene, we see Elena with her son and her mother and… she felt so different from that first scene. So within the first chapter, Elena became sympathetic, but that first scene made me wonder if I would finish the book. The second tiny thing is where the couple don't see each other for two weeks because of Alison's finals. Maybe it's just that I was a poor excuse for a college student (way back when), but if you can't find even a mealtime to share together in two weeks, you just don't care about each other. It set up the reunion at the end of the book, but… I found that one detail difficult to believe.

But, as I say, a wonderful book, pulled wonderfully on my emotions and brought me reminders of the early days of my own relationship with the woman I went on to marry, even though our experiences were totally different!

There was something about the writing style that I didn't quite like in the beginning, but I got quickly used to it. Overall the story was very cute and very enjoyable.
