I cant decide if I liked this book or not, or if I would recommend it or not. This retelling if the Japanese creation and underworld mythologies left me unimpressed. I enjoyed the prevention of the myth through the mirrored journey of the main character, Namima. And I always love the trope of women in fiction motivated by revenge, but the narration style felt distant and for me it kept the characters from being relatable.

this book is a retelling of the ancient Japanese myths the Izanagi & Izanami, gods of creation and their relationship.

was really looking forward to reading it but this book felt very unforgettable, nothing stuck with me not the characters not the plot even the pacing felt off. the only redeeming factor was probably the witty dialogue.

O Conto da deusa reconta o mito da criação do Japão.
