A classic
My favourite moment - The downfall of Umbridge
I do want to comment that I DO NOT SUPPORT OR STAND with J.K Rowling on many issues such as trans rights and most recently her stance on Israel vs Palestine. However, I do love the world of Harry Potter and it is quite comforting so it's difficult to give ratings & write reviews.

when i read the books as a teenager i always stopped about a quarter into the 5th book because harry‘s whining got on my nerves sooo much (still does, don’t worry). i just reread the first four over and over again back then — possibly also because it got too real and didn’t feel like a cute „harry discovers magic“ story anymore and i wasn’t ready to face the whole voldemort war. mostly because of harry’s whining though. (i have argued with friends over this many times and i know he‘s only 15 and of course it‘s frustrating for him to feel out of the loop but STILL, he‘s so self-centered and woe is me that i just cannot. fight me. why is there not one single moment where he considers that people are protecting him and that they might have valid reasons?).
well. i got the whole series on audible a few years ago and have since listened through all of them. i‘ve now read book 5 about two or three times and 6 & 7 once, i think.
this reread i actually liked it a lot more, the writing is great as always and the characters are familiar and consistent. umbridge is the perfect villain and the detention scenes have scarred me (and harry‘s hands) for life. disgustinggg. i love the DA plot line, although the name is just plain stupid and unnecessarily endangering them. i missed hermione‘s elf saving mission a bit. also, i still don‘t understand the grading system and have to look up the names every time they are mentioned. around the 60% mark it dragged on a little bit and i feel like it could have been a lot shorter, hence the 4 stars. i know most people found sirius‘ death heartbreaking but somehow, i didn‘t really move me much?? i don‘t exactly know why. oh yeah, rowling is exceptionally bad at writing romance but we knew that already.
as it’s my falling-asleep-to-audiobook i took me several months to finally finish it and i can‘t actually remember much from the beginning lol. all in all an enjoyable read, i had fun and will probably continue my yearly re-listen during the winter months.

This is definitely my favorite of the series, thus far. It would be appropriate to refer to it as an epic. It’s dark. In many ways analogous to the world. And I realize that the author is so mindful of the developmental mindset of the ages of the characters. Man, this one is so good.

I'm in quite a lazy mood and I don't want to write a professional review with segues and quotes so here's a list of things I loved about this book
Umbridge - I just love to hate her. Honestly, it brings me so much twisted joy to mutter "fork you, Umbridge"
Umbridge being stood up to - Every time someone stood up to her, I smiled, laughed, and reread the scene.
More reveals - We get even more information about Harry and Voldemorts connection. Things are really starting to heat up and I can't wait for the next book because it's very info-dumpy which I love.
Dumbledore's Army - YASSSSSSSSSSSS
Dumbedore and his eternal oldness and wisdom - Double YAS
Graup - Such a dangerously huge, sweet lil sweetheart
Luna Lovegood - Honestly, one of the best characters from Harry Potter
➵ Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone - ★★★★☆
➵ Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - ★★★★★
➵ Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - ★★★★☆
➵ Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire - ★★★★☆
➵ Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoneix - ★★★★★
➵ Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince - ★★★★★
➵ Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallow - ★★★★★
