Really enjoyed this but taking off a star for Loreda—like damn girl I know you’re a teenager growing up in the middle of the Depression but let’s try to have a little empathy for your mom and overall perspective, huh?

Only docked it half a point because the middle was slow and slightly repetitive, but the last third was amazing! Heart stopping

Be prepared to sob. 😭 

It’s not a fun book, but it’s fucking incredible and real. The grit and strength of women has been overlooked for way too long. Men don’t stand a freaking chance in a competition on mental strength.

Motherhood. Hope in the face of fear and loss. Fighting for what you believe  in. These are all major themes in this amazing novel about the great depression and dust bowl era. I recommend highly to anyone whose ever been curios about this timeframe.
