I liked getting to know the characters better. The bonds between the kids and their beasts are interesting. I really liked Finn, a new character--his story was fantastic. The bad guy's plans are getting more diabolical, and I appreciate that the way they spread their cause seems justifiable to those who join them--It's obviously the wrong side, but it makes sense. Another interesting story. Looking forward to the next.

It is a lecture that feels like a pause from reading something with a complicated story line without entering a reading slump

Excellent middle grade diversion. All of the characters are well written, and the Spirit Animals are a creative new magic spin.

In the second book of the series, Abeke joins Conor, Rollan, and Meilin. They travel to a city to try and get Rumfuss the Great Boar's talisman, which they are successful in doing, only after defeating Devin (who is the spoiled brat son of an earl) and his newfound spirit animals, which was procured in less than natural ways. It is said that forcing a Spirit Animal to appear when one does not naturally come during the Nectar Ceremony that negative effects will befall both human and animal. (Although, would it be so horrible if something befell Devin? I think not.) In addition, Meilin annoys me a bit as she thinks her life is the most important and that Zhong must be the only region of importance. I really, really want to like her, but if she keeps acting like this, it's not in the cards. The team dynamics really need some work amongst the characters but I think they can learn to work with one another.

Thank you to netgalley.com and Scholastic for allowing me early access to this title.

As the second installment of the spirit animals series I really like where this is going. I can see middle readers reeally enjoying it.

It is refreshing to see one of my favoririte authours [a:Maggie Stiefvater|1330292|Maggie Stiefvater|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/authors/1384827512p2/1330292.jpg] write something targeted at a younger audience.

I really enjoyed hoe she added to the main characters' development and relations to each other.

I look forward to the next installment!

My God, the first book was really good, but this one? Total step-up from the last one.

The storyline was so interesting, the characters were fantastic, I totally fell in love with Finn and hated Devin lol. But the ending? Bro, shit's about to go down.

One of my favorites of the year, incredible job to Mrs Stiefvater.

Hunted is the second in the Spirit Animals series, and is written by one of my favorite authors of all time - the amazing Maggie Stiefvater! In fact, when the library was missing (of course) their copy of the second of the series, I didn't hesitate to buy a copy for myself because I was so sure it would be awesome.

3.5/5 stars, rounded to 4. I was mildly disappointed. It's not a BAD book, by any means, I just wanted so much more from the characters! I feel like we are barely getting to know them as they traipse all over the world doing all these different things - which all keep getting interrupted.

The plot WHIZZES along...which I think will be very good for the young middle-grade readers the series is aimed at. I thought we'd left the horrible, sniveling Devin behind in the first book, but oh no! He comes back. Somehow bullying pre-teens are much scarier to me than even literal backstabbing adults. I actually felt sick during some of the scenes with him, he's just so hateful!

Our quartet is off to find another reclusive Great Beast, to ask to borrow its talisman to use in the fight against the Conquerors coming from a far land. The Conquerors have a powerful new weapon in their quest to control all of the known lands - a replacement for the Nectar, the Bile, which forces the spirit animal connection. Along the way all sorts of things happen...choices are made. I like that the characters make kid-style decisions, they're not adults in kids' bodies. Of course some of the choices cause problems...but hey, that's what happens.

Finn is an new character in this book, and I am SUPER intrigued by him, especially after what happened in the very last scenes of the story. Even though he's an adult, I feel like we will see a lot more of him.

The ending is, as one might expect, a cliffhanger - and QUITE a cliffhanger at that! The ending and Finn are what made we round this up to 4 stars. I'm immediately picking up the next one.
