“Never look back. If you don’t look back, you run faster. If you don’t look back, no one will catch you.”

I wasn’t a fan of this story (unfortunately). I’m aware of the fact that we’re supposed to be in the dark with this one — our MC has lost her memories & therefore we’re trying to piece things together as she does — but I wish there was more time spent on Reina & Asher’s relationship before it started to develop? I understand that he saved her that one night, but it seemed as though Reina went from mistrusting him to lusting after him overnight (which confused me)?

Reina wakes up from an accident with no recollection of who she is or what happened. Asher is by her side and says he’s her fiancé but there are no warm feelings coming from him when they’re alone. Back at school, Reina learns that the monster nickname is fitting considering she was a Royal bitch, to put it nicely. New Reina is opposite and seeks to right her wrongs even if many people are slow to trust her memories are actually gone. Meanwhile she’s receiving weird messages from an Instagram account and trying not to fall for Asher. Unfortunately, that’s easier said than done since he seems to be the person who is always there to save her. Is he trustworthy? We still don’t know. Is Reina responsible for everything Asher accuses her of? We don’t know.
I’m hooked! Slow burns aren’t typically my style but, damn, the mystery and angsty interactions keep me on edge. I have so many theories. I’m pretty sure about a few of them but there are so many mysteries upon mysteries that I might know to answer to one but not the others.
Graphic: Medical trauma
Moderate: Bullying and Toxic friendship
The main character has amnesia and doesn’t remember who she is or how it happened. She was also a bully before the accident so she doesn’t continue to bully, but her past actions are described.culzean's review against another edition
