I liked this book. It was a lot heavier than I expected, but I thought the author gave the characters great depth and real life problems without overdoing it. I really felt for Alison along the way,
though I didn’t love how they handled it with their spouses

Nick Hornby's 'High Fidelity' is one of my favourite books, so I was intrigued by this new love story between music lovers. I was looking for a light read and was sent an ARC of this (thanks!) It took me a few days to race through it, and the further I got, the more attached I felt to the main characters, not wanting to put it down.

At the heart this is an incredibly nostalgic story about the power of first love, lost and then found again, between a pair of characters who are really well nuanced. The story explores the effects that our actions, past and present, might have on our lives, and most crucially, on those around us. The situation that unfolds is messy but love, between family, and romantically, prevails. Best of all, music weaves through the story, tying together the two main characters. I love that Alison and Daniel's mixtape, added to through the story, actually exists to listen to on Spotify - it adds another exciting layer to the reading process and an opportunity to feel closer to the world of the story. I really enjoyed the story, and at several points felt that it would really lend itself to a film adaptation!

Alison has a tumultuous life, but was steadied by the love and reminder of Daniel. Their love of music through Mix tape bound them and brought them together again.
Really enjoyed this one.
