Oof, the best of the series. What a heart wrencher. I feel like this was the author’s favorite story, there was just an emotional depth in this one that wasn’t present in the others. Something personal. Loved it.

I have to say WOW! This book has all the feels. There is something to say about a man that remains totally faithful to the woman that has no idea who he is. This story takes you on such a roller coaster ride is emotions, that you cannot put it down until you find out how it ends. Now I will have to go back and read the rest of the books in this series.

“He protected my heart, my memories, our marriage, and my life fiercely. He never gave up—even when the odds were stacked against us.”

This has to be my favorite of the series. Asher is the lead singer of his rock band, and he has been featured in the other books and moody but also the wise one that helps his brothers and cousins find their love. You finally get so see his story, his wife Ember who has been in a coma for the last 8 years, and how much time he spends with her, hoping for her to wake up and coma back to him.
However when she does wake, she doesn't remember him or the last 18 years together. Asher struggles with wanting Ember to be exactly like she was before, hoping to jar her memory by surrounding her with her past. Ember just wants to learn who she is now, not be stuck in the past.
You see glimpses of them flirting and rebuilding their relationship, and also taking steps back. Asher is trying so hard, but is also struggling on how to behave around his wife. This book broke my heart in so many ways. Watching them navigate such a tough situation was so hard. I am so glad that it ended the way it did, even if it was a rough journey.
