This was so interesting and I love how we know Simon's thoughts and why he does certain things. There were so many mysteries and I love how Simon's idea of Blue wasn't just one person and he thought it could be one of several people. I also love all of the nerdy inside jokes!

I did not understand why this book is so popular.
It's horrible.

I read this book around the time the movie came out, because I wanted to watch it and wanted to read the book first. I got through it in a little over a day, and I loved it. There were so many things about this book that made me happy that I can't list them all. I definitely plan to reread once I conquer more of my reading list.

More like 3.5.
This was entertaining, but maybe a little bit too Tumblr for my tastes. (Although, on a side note, I could not believe that the author referred to it as "the Tumblr." Seriously?) I did enjoy trying to guess which guy was Blue. was one of my guesses, so I feel vindicated, but I think I pretty much suspected every male character at one point, haha.
Looking forward to seeing the movie!

On the very first page Simon is approached by another student at high school, who has found out Simon's secret. Simon is gay and uses a pseudonym to email with another student, who is also anonymous and in the closet. I'm not sure if an actual teen would read the blackmailer the same way that I do as an adult and former high school teacher. While I am on Simon's side, I found myself very sympathetic to both boys. Simon makes some poor moral choices in the book too, which he is similarly oblivious about until late in the book. Anyway, both the coming out journey and the romance had more nuance than I see in most YA books.
