This book was fun and interesting, with a cool plot and likeable characters (except the ones you're meant to hate. You absolutely despise the ones you're meant to hate). It does have a kind of predictable and boring ending, but we can forgive that.

It also should be noted that while the protagonist losing all his memories is the entire premise and allows for the whole plot to take place, it isn't really about that memory loss or it's impacts. That's just the premise. That was what I was after when I read this book, so if that's what you want, I suggest finding something else.

And all the female characters (all three of them) have kind of nothing arcs, and nothing personalities. So. A little weird.

Also, it has no acknowledgements. I don't trust an author who doesn't have an acknowledgements section.

I still loved the story; one of the best middle-grade books I've read in a while. But most of the audiobook narrators sounded too adult to be middle schoolers. With having a different narrator for each POV character, I'm a little surprised they didn't take the time to cast age-appropriate-sounding choices.

4.5 stars. I see why this is a YRCA selection for 2020. This book is really good! Very readable, humorous, and definitely thought provoking.

I really enjoyed Restart by Gordon Korman, I think it is going to be on my favorite middle grade list for 2022.

Chase is a middle school aged kid who falls off his roof and finds himself not remembering who he is. But the stares and fear he sees on his fellow classmates faces cause him to wonder who he was? Now he needs to figure out who he plans to be, or will he go back to the person they have feared.

Really nice book. Strong idea, plot, and characters. Not too predictable either. It's really nice pacing. I especially like how the reader learns his history at the same time as Chase.
