I believe my first taste of Taran Matharu's work was a short story collection called A Thousand Beginnigs and Endings. He wrote a short story based on the Mahabahara for it. A story that has elements of this series in it.
And while I liked both, there is a part of me that cannot help but think that the ending of this story doesn't quite fit right. And I can't say why. Perhaps I'm just saddened by the darker ending than I would have preferred.

This was a fun series. Really far fetched but a great escape from the life of covid. Better to battle monsters, legionnaires, dinosaurs and immortals than to face a biological pandemic
