I really have enjoyed Denos's book, and after reading Swatch, couldn't wait to get my hands on this one. This was even better. I'd probably but this up there as a "every library should have it" title, it's that good.

the middle house on the front cover looks like a place I'd love--a sewing room, a plant room, and two large kitties in the front.

A nice story, but looking into other people's windows bothered me. It can be really interesting-- or pretty nosy. It reminded me of being in a boat on a nearby lake and noticing how much more you can see into homes at night. I did like some of the references; for instance, the page that compared the lit up homes to paper lanterns really did look like lanterns!

A gorgeous book (don't forget to look under the book jacket to see the case cover). A sweet, quiet, everyday homage to neighborhoods. Loved the walk through this boy's neighborhood as he walks his dog at dusk. And can I mention how much I loved the full bookshelves in his house?!

Absolutely gorgeous illustrations that made me miss my old "triple decker" apartment in Somerville, Massachusetts. The accompanying text is straightforward and observational, yet comforting. A really lovely book.
