What the ever loving fuck took me so long?!
I read Clap When You Land earlier this year & it was beautiful, so it is no surprise that this coming-of-age poetic masterpiece was the same!
There was some “controversy” with a charter school in my area having this book be part of the HS curriculum, but in my opinion, the concerns were completely unfounded. Any quote they had issue with was taken completely out of context, & I think this book is a beautiful story that many high schoolers can relate to in some way. It’s also won a lot of awards (unsurprisingly).
Read this one, & let your teenager read it too.
