3.5 ⭐️ a really sweet Halloween pick-me-up and warm coming-of-age book.

Based on the cover copy, I was expecting a “kids riding their bikes around town in search of the supernatural” vibe, something akin to E.T. or Stranger Things, but I would categorize this more as “uncle with a mysterious, sad past unknowingly works his issues out on his nephew and that nephew’s friends.” There is a notable poignancy and depth to the story that I didn’t see coming but that I really liked, and present-day Jake’s work as a neurosurgeon adds a compelling and informative layer to the flashback sections.

Didn't like the book. I imagined it to be more spooky but it didn't catche at all and at least as far as I read no spookiness or ghosts (boring)
