3 1/2 stars. Intriguing, but a tad uneven. Striking artwork.

A beautiful story about love and madness. The ending gave me a pleasurable chill down my spine.

I loved the illustrations, but felt the story never quite went anywhere. A very interesting final act was rushed and never quite realized.

Another First Second graphic novel. This was a pretty large format adult book. And it had potential. But really the story didn't suck me in. Nor did the writing. The art was pretty good. And there were lots of hooks to go around. Also that mermaid could have used a shirt. Or a blanket. Readable. But whatever.

Fantastic fast read that was really entertaining. Loved every page. Darker than I normally pick but left me totally satisfied. The book itself is beautiful with the illustrations done in what appears to be charcoal. Some of the drawings are indeed a little bit risqué but nothing any normal late teen couldn't handle. Highly recommend.

This was a wild card, as I wasn’t sure what to expect. I don’t often read graphic novels but the promise of a mermaid intrigued me.

I whizzed through this, and found it very entertaining. The story is set in 1800s on a steamboat. I’m not a history buff but learning via a comic book (with a bit of fantasy) made it lots of fun. It’s funny too.

An unexpected treat were the pages at the end. Here the author shares how the characters first came to him, all the research, and more of his artwork. I love discovering more behind the book.

I recieved an ARC copy from Net Galley. This is my honest review.
