Very well written yet devastating memoir. There are numerous trigger warnings of abuse but the author thoughtfully gives a warning so that the more graphic portions can be skipped. Jessica reads her story herself and I can't imagine how difficult it must have been.

What an amazing woman.

Just a thought that bothers me. Why didn’t the therapist, Leigh, turn Toby into the authorities? Wasn’t she a mandated reporter? That made me really mad and seemed like a major lapse on her part. I can’t see any reviews on here talking about it, or anyone talking about it online.

This is such an incredible story. It was so hard to read at times, so saddening to know this is happening. But the reality of it is so true.

I knew this was going to be 5-stars from the beginning. It was a difficult read due to the nature of the content but I have been a long time fan of her music (I first saw her family perform a number of years ago on AGT and instantly fell in love with their music) and was interested to learn more about her experiences and how she overcame the darkness of her childhood.

Jessica Willis Fisher has a way with words. She was able to illustrate the horrors of her childhood in such a unique way. I am left simply in awe of her strength to do what she did and to work tirelessly to heal from the traumas she experienced.

Wow, this book was one i could not put down. When the story first broke out I was shocked and the more time that passed and the more the media exposed it left me more and more confused and wondering what really happened. I've always seeing the children, especially Jessica, as strong humans but after reading this book I am more amazed the more I read. She put it all out there wanting her voice to be heard in hopes of helping others in similar cases. being able to hear the stories behind the scenes and watching the same clips I once viewed as a wholesome family making there dream come true is one that I am glad I have.
I respect the fact that she balances between sharing the stories and interactions with her siblings while also keeping there names out of it.

over all i think anyone who's ever watched/followed the willis clan should read this book to fully understand all the complexities within this family and there lives.
