I enjoyed most of this book, but the last part really threw me off. I'm not sure how we went from finding out the extent of all the terrible things that happened, to playing happy families at a birthday lunch? 'Oh he's just your eccentric uncle', who's still completely obsessed with a boy he met as a child, and who tried to kill virtually the entire household. It felt like the author wrote the first 3 parts, then said 'And they all lived happily ever after'.

While it was an interesting mystery that was somewhat quick to read, it was predictable. A fine book but not good enough to surpass 3 stars.

Never, ever, let a stranger in. Unless you have a plumbing problem or whatever.

Lisa Jewell has been hit or miss for me so I wasn’t quite sure what I was going to think of this book, but I really liked it! It kept a good pace for me and the three different POVs kept things interesting right off the bat. There were some really surprising twists at the end and it was interesting to learn about halfway through that one of the narrators was unreliable. Only thing that kept this from being five stars is that the very last chapter felt very unfinished and still left a lot to question about the character. Otherwise, another great thriller from Lisa Jewell!
