Just as lovely as I always thought it was in my childhood, the Quiltmaker's Journey is a prequel to the Quiltmaker's gift, and it is a wonderful story.

A beautiful prequel to the first book. The illustrations are just as lavish, and I was delighted to see, through those illustrations, that one of the things she did while exploring the outside world was befriend a small grey cat that was never mentioned in the text. What a charming thing to discover. Now I want to spend lots of time with both books and see what else I might have missed.
