"De allerlaatste pagina laat je met een schok achter en belooft weer heel wat spannends voor komende boeken wellicht. Ik ben de Roy Grace verhalen nog lang niet beu en kijk alweer reikhalzend uit naar het achtste deel van deze enorm goede serie."

The book itself was fine, it was entertaining, it was fun, it was fast paced BUT the entire book is in the synopsis. if you do decide to pick up this book, just go in completely blind. there were a few things that werent in the synopsis, but not much and everything else was pretty predictable. I love a good thriller mystery and i really thought i would like this book (which i did) but im bummed that it was totally ruined for me when i read the back of the book .

I think I was on a bit of a downer on Peter James after the last of the Roy Grace books which I didn't like so much. Dead Man's Grip was a lot of fun though, a good mix of realistic feeling cop stuff, nasty villains and enough soap opera around the central characters to keep you interested in them as well as the plot.

Another instalment in the Roy Grace series and I wasn't disappointed. It all starts with a horrific traffic accident, in which a young man loses his life. There are three drivers involved but only one flees the scene and it falls to Grace's team to identify the missing driver. This series never follows the standard murder investigation plot and the police manage to not get personally embroiled, which are both bonus points for me. Dead Man's Grip contains a good balance of police work, insight into the victims' lives and a dash of action.

I have always found Peter James' books to be the most believable when it comes to the police procedural aspect. Whilst the actual crimes might be a bit fair fetched, I can imagine Brighton PD to be just as described in Grace's world. If any Brighton coppers would like to correct me, please do!

I would hope that after reading this book, people may think twice about driving to work after a night out. I have known many people that will stay out later drinking and get into their cars first thing in the morning when there is no way the alcohol has left their systems. I don't drive myself, but I can't imagine even a hungover state is conducive to good reactions.

My favourite crime series, no doubt about it!

James' professional experience in the police force is what puts this series far above any others out there, not to mention is Stephen King-like flare for creating suspense and mystery.

Like all others in this series, the plot is well-developed, and follows a gripping growth as more clues unfold. What i especially value in the Roy Grace series are the under-lying narrative arcs of Roy and his fellow colleagues that last all the way up until the present/most recent instalment; allowing some space from the criminal world, giving us sometimes comic relief, sometimes romance, and sometimes heartache; like all the Roy Grace novels, this is a cut above the rest of the crime-authors out there!
