Something that I really enjoyed in this book is how engaging Riordan's writing is. When I begin books, it often takes a few chapters or even almost the whole book to get me engaged. This book I didn't seem to find that problem; as soon as I began it, I couldn't put it down. You won't regret reading this series. Everything from the action, plot twists, betrayal, romance, and maybe you'll even learn a bit about Greek mythology.

Excellent young adult fantasy. We read the whole series aloud with Jesse and they are a big craze here in Austin, home of the summer camp, Camp Half Blood, put on by our local independent bookstore, Book People. Jesse has attended 3 years in a row. Great books. Kind of Harry Potter level and writing style, I think. Funny, engaging, lots of action, great premise.

I'd been told I wouldn't like this book because I don't like the Harry Potter series or other books of a fantastical/youth nature. I read it anyway because I have a weakness for mythology and I actually did like it. I thought it was fun and cute. I enjoyed the modern twists on ancient legends. I did not like, however, the whole "Hades is a bad guy" thing.

Obviously, so good. I wish I had read this as a kid! My daughter enjoyed it too, she and I had a lot of fun reading it together, looking forward to part 2!

Even if you have already seen the movie, read this book! The plot is similar but will keep you on your toes and at the edge of your seat! Riordan is such a talented author and the style is a low enough reading level for people of all ages to enjoy!
