Good book

I liked this book a lot, it was entertaining. Glad to know there’s a second one on Brecken, but it’s would still be good on it’s own.

This book was a tough one. It has a good plot although a little predictable. The ending was pretty cheesy. The writing seemed to infantilize the story a bit, what with the characters using the words “tats” a lot and a few other ones that made me feel like I need to be reading this on my high school lunch break. There were a lot of grammatical and spelling errors as well.

I was also disappointed in the FMC. She is really naive and honestly just straight up emotionally weak and stupid the majority of the time. The ending also felt really rushed. I likely will not be reading the second book.

Finally going back and reading Shantel’s older work. I see there is also a third book of this series coming.

I didn’t know what I would be getting into when going into this book, but it was a fantastic read! Just enough dark and grittiness, with some sweet romance, and lots of heat to bring a well-rounded romance.

At the beginning when we’re being introduced to Taylor, Case, and her brother, each with their own perspective I was very confused as to how the brother was fitting into all this. Turned out he was pretty central (and indirect) in bringing Case and Taylor together. Case is a drug dealer and club owner in which Taylor’s brother goes to work for. She finds out what he has been doing when tagging along to the club with him and her friend. From there, she and Case have a variety of interactions until she ends up working for him at the club. She’s brought into the dangerous world, while Case is working on keeping her safe.

There’s a lot going on in the background between the brother, the side characters, and especially with Case’s shady background. I did have my suspicions, because why else would he be so secretive, but I didn’t quite guess it all. And it wasn't until nearly when Taylor figured it out that so did I as to who was running the show in the background.

Even during the first half, their romance blooms as very sweet. As hard as Case seems, and as hot as the sex is, he brings so much sweet angst to the table. He is so protective over Taylor in all the good ways and everything he has done for her was for a reason.

Loved this one and so excited for Brecken’s book! I’m so happy that it won’t be him and Rachel since I had fears early into this one that that is what it would be.

So this is only the second book I read of Tessier’s but after this one, I now have 4 more of her books loaded in my kindle, including book 2 to this series!
The characters are built nicely and the storyline will entangle you, forget adulting you won’t be doing any of it once you start reading this book. Give me this damaged man any day and I will lick his sins away!
You need to one-click this book now!!

OMG! Everyone must read this book... like right now.

This was such an amazing story. I didn't even know what the hell I was reading for the first 20%, and somehow it wasn't a bad thing. I was glued to my Kindle. I may not have had any idea what the hell was going on but it didn't seem to matter because the story and the writing were that good.

This is a book where things aren't what they seem to be, but not in a way where you can figure out the ending before you read it. At least I don't think so. The author tells the story from three POVs: the hero, Case, the heroine, Taylor, and the heroine's brother, Blane. I love that there is an unexpected POV. It's different and completely relevant to the story.

There really isn't much I can say about the story line unless I'm going to write a review full of spoilers. Just know this book is a love story, a mystery, a little bit of a mind fuck, focused on family and friendships.. and of course addiction.

One more thing: this author knows how to write some hot as hell love scenes. I mean... OMG. I will warn you though, some readers may find the sex scenes "a little much" but they completely fit the tone of the story.

I CANNOT wait for Brecken's story!
