I loved it! Just as impossible to put down as the first book in the series. This installment has much less Kai (for most of the book he's
Spoileran incapacitated prisoner
) and very little Library, but it trades this for a much closer look at the Fae and at dragons. And for a great deal of action and escapades!

Irene continues to be an amazing protagonist, and both Vale and Kai are still great secondary characters, although their screentime is more limited. I continue to love Coppelia, and in this book I also fell in love with Ao Shun and Zayanna.

The book ends with a mild cliffhanger, as we wait to see the ramifications of Irene's actions, so I can't wait to read the next book in the series!

I didn't enjoy this as much as the first one and felt it dragged a bit in the middle.

Ok, I put down the first book in this series just itching to read the second one. Now that I've done it, I feel like the second one must just be a bridge to get to the third one. Didn't love it. I did appreciate that there was more exposition and some stronger world building. But where's my arch-villain that was so heavily teased in the end of the first book? Also thought the author was a little free-wheeling with the whole 'Library language' thing towards the end. Got a problem? Just shout a solution. Didn't seem to jibe with how it was used (or not used) in the first book. I will read the third one, but mostly because I'm hoping to get some answers to questions raised in the first book.
