I listened to this one on CD. I'm not a huge fan of short stories, which may have colored my rating a little, but I did enjoy some of them. I just always feel as if they end so arbitrarily, and these were no different- I'd feel as if I was finally getting into the characters and then the story was over, and there were a couple where I just plain couldn't like the characters, which is a turn-off (the one with the NYC apartment, for instance - lord, that girl annoyed me!!). I really liked the "what if" wedding registry story, though - I wish I'd thought up that premise.
All in all, worth reading but nothing amazing.

I needed something to unwind and this collection of short stories fit the bill. These are easy-to-read stories that don't take too much mental brainpower and are just contemplative enough, and sometimes in life, you need that. Jennifer Weiner can definitely weave a narrative that is difficult to put down. Her characters are relatable and fleshed out. The only hard part is that you only get a taste of each story character's world, and you want more.

I love this author. I want to be her--or at least have her writing career. I've read almost all of her books and have enjoyed them all (some more than others.) I loved Guy Not Taken because it was full of short stories with notes from the author about the origins of each one. Several of the stories I wish she would develop further--I'd love to see where she takes the characters.

I liked some stories more than others and I think they got better towards the end of the book, however, I just never really got into it and it took awhile to read.

Good, quick read. As always Jennifer Weiner pulls out all emotions - readers will laugh, cry, get angry, etc. While really getting to know the characters. Even in her short stories, Weiner has a way of writing that makes you feel, know, and understand the characters of her stories and what they're going through. I felt immersed in her storylines and connected with the plots and the people.

This is not my favorite from Jennifer Weiner, who is, after all, my favorite female writer of the modern era. I would skip this and read her books. I often felt myself zoning out halfway through the stories, unable to connect with them in such a short amount of time. The stories that give you glimpses of later characters (most notably from Good in Bed) are worth a read, but take them one at a time.

Jennifer Weiner is a very talented writer, and I really enjoyed these short stories. I often don't like to read one collection of short stories all the way though, as they can get repetitive, but that didn't happen with this book. Also, the stories are arranged chronologically in a woman's life, moving from a story about a teenager to one about a senior citizen in Florida. I thought this was a clever device, and really worked.

Short stories by my fave chick lit writer Jennifer Weiner. My favourite part of this book is that you can turn to the back of the book after you read each story and there is a paragraph or two about when she wrote the story and what her inspiration for it was. Some of the stories hit pretty close to home for her.
