Love Sally Thorne. This was a big swing for the fences and I really appreciate authors who take risks. Rarely while reading romance am I unsure of how things will turn out. I wasn’t really able to connect with the main characters enough to feel the usual investment in their love story, but the plot had enough going for it and there were enough entertaining side characters to keep me invested. Not for everyone and if you’re a usual Sally reader it’s not like anything she’s done before.

I have this ongoing problem with Sally Thorne books where there's so much dialogue that I can't actually keep track of where the characters are and what's going on in the scene. It worked in The Hating Game, but both this and 99 Percent Mine I kept losing track of what was going on at any giving time.

Such a delightfully fun, silly, gothic adaptation that accomplished exactly what it set out to do! If you went into this book expecting a modern rom-com with all the usual tropes and themes, Angelika Frankenstein would surely be a disappointment. Instead, it's a wacky fan fiction that loves poking fun at itself, while exploring big themes of religion, confidence, and wealth in interesting ways. My only complaint is the picture-perfect ending, especially the romance's conclusion; although the insinuation of Mary Shelley's famous tale was a silver lining. This novel is certainly something different, but the book knows it — and I love it.

This book was the perfect read to get in the spooky 🎃

Angelika, frustrating at times, was the perfect MC. I enjoyed reading her character growth and seeing the development of her relationship with Will.

I went into this book a little apprehensive as to whether or not I would enjoy it and oh my stars, it completely took me by surprise.

It was such a cosy, fun read with some serious notes here and there. I’ve never actually read Frankenstein but I know of the story and I think this is an absolutely fantastic retelling.

The romance between Angelika and Will was heart-stopping (literally) and throughout the book I really grew to know them like old friends, it was brilliant.

Definitely one of the funniest books I’ve read this year. I absolutely recommend picking it up if you have the chance!!
