Rather bleak but well written story. There were some overly descriptive scenes that I could have done without, but overall an engaging read.

This books is really well written and well researched. The world the author describes is so vivid in my mind. This book is does not have a happy ending but it is hauntingly beautiful.

it's so slow and so half-assed about trying to immerse you in the Icelandic setting and I just do not care enough, I'm sorry. I'm sure it's a great book if this is at all your vibe and genre

a simple murder story told in such a beautiful and haunted writing, set against the biting beauty and coldness of 1800's Iceland, a definite must read for people who love atmospheric and character driven books.

And the audio was also phenomenal in its narration.

So tragic and beautifully written. Explores the complexity of life as a woman, as a worker, as a human. The power of narrative to shape our life is a strong feature.
