Giving up on this one for now, not because it's bad, but because I don't think I'm in the right space to read it. 100 pages in and I'm interested but stalled so calling it a day for now.

I liked this series as much as I had liked the Lonesome Dove books.

This series is a perfect balance of grim and amusing, hilarious and heart-breaking. Reading McMurtry leaves me feeling oddly comforted, probably because it makes me realize that the things I think are important aren't really important.
