Honestly, I do not know if I would have found this book if it were not for a recommendation list for one of my current classes. I am SO GLAD that it was on that list, because I cheered for Olive from her love for Dolly Parton to her talents with bedazzling -- and for that little whisper inside of her that magic is real. I got to see one story of osteogenesis imperfecta and how Olive learns that she does not have to project 100% positivity and love about her disabilty in order to make her life valuable. She is allowed to just be her quirky, hopeful self -- and it's wonderful!

This book was originally recommended to me when I was trying to find other middle grade fantasy books with disability rep, but then I was told it's not "really" fantasy, so I put it on my TBR but not very high up on my list. But then Natalie Lloyd was on This Podcast Will Kill you and while I definitely don't have OI, I have another connective tissue disorder, so I bumped it up on my TBR and devoured it! Fear not! It is indeed fantasy! And the wheelchair, chronic pain, and disability rep was so well done and clearly written from a personal point of view. And the story was so cute! If you're looking for a MG fantasy with disability rep, make sure Hummingbird makes it to your list!
