Very good debut! I did pick up pretty early that
Annie and Anya were 2 different people and Annie was not the ghost, and I was suspicious of the maxwells
but I didn’t fully put most of it together. I do feel like the book kind of glossed over Mallory’s past traumas a bit and we could’ve gotten some stronger character development there, but for what it is I quite enjoyed it.

Was a fun read if you overlook the anti-trans, right wing propaganda. Was fun/different to have the kid's pictures and some of them legit creeped me out. Get it at the library, don't give them your money unless you yourself are right-wing and transphobic and fatphobic and a number of other phobics.

(i actually am a christian personally and the thinly veiled attempt to paint the parents as some type of holier than thou athiests - against the religious nanny who just wants to (gentle sob) do what's good and right - who go on to commit some crimes and force a child to be trans in the name of leftist ideals was just so poorly done and easily seen through. It felt super gross.)

I went into this one totally blind. All I knew was I loved the cover. I’m not one for paranormal thrillers but I really enjoyed this story. It is fast paced, kept me engaged and is truly unique. Despite my theories, I did not guess the ending prior to the grand reveal.

It was very well done on audio.
