What can I say? I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It seems to be wrote from his diary or journal, which follows the first year of Max and his friends as they begin their career as junior doctors in the NHS. He take us through some of his best and worst moments including his “Big Mistake” which nearly cost the life of his patient. He describes the struggles and doubts he and his friends faced, the highs of saving lives but also documents the times when there was nothing more that could be done to save a life. It was a real eye opening book into what life is like for those on the frontline of the NHS, intriguing and funny at times but absolutely heartbreaking sometimes too. This would be a good read for anyone interested in the NHS, anybody that enjoys medical shows such as Casualty, Holby City or Greys Anatomy or particularly anyone who is interested in a career in the medical field too. It definitely puts things into perspective and makes you appreciate all the NHS staff that bit more because they really do deserve it, they sacrifice so much in their own lives to help save others! I’d highly recommend this book to anyone!
