Some of the data is interesting, but overall this was a disappointing read. The book is very much written for a non-technical 'business audience', which made the book very hard for me to read as I dislike such books with a passion.
The authors are quite obviously overconfident about the findings they discuss in the book.

A paper/study that should have remained so. A few interesting insights about DevOps and statistical analysis diluted in a sea of repetitive content, with a real life scenario that could be summed by the phrase and they were willing to learn from each other everyday at the company.

Reads like a white paper, and about the last third of it is redundant and/or not really relevant to the subject matter. For example, there are a couple of chapters on data analysis, as though it’s there to convince you that what they’ve told you is reliable

Section 2 is very interesting, but can be skipped if you are only in for the results. Section 3 seems slapped-on. The appendixes contain useful summaries.

I found the core principles very useful, but I felt like it could have been a 30-page pamphlet.

Outstanding, clear, concise book on leading a technology organization backed with research. This is one of the few books that I've read that once completed, I turned back to the front and started reading again. I highly recommend this book to anyone involved in managing technology teams or organizations.

Disappointing. And a bit annoying. And repetitive. But not wholly without value. This may actually work better as a reference book. And I'm looking forward to talking to coworkers specifically about the chapter on Leaders and Managers. I'm not sure it would be helpful or reasonable - but I would have liked to have seen the actual questions and answers from the various years - perhaps there is a pointer to this in a digestible fashion online. Reading this straight through felt a bit like a slog. 2.5 of 5.
