I really enjoyed this book about the love of reading, the strength of family, and the ways in which humans will discriminate against each other. The Appalachian setting was a beautiful backdrop to the story. I struggled a bit with the way that the character's dialect was used in speech vs. the books she was reading, but I'm not an expert on the region and was able to set that aside for the most part.
