In 1984, Marjane flees fundamentalism and the war with Iraq to begin a new life in Vienna. Once there, she faces the trials of adolescence far from her friends and family, and while she soon carves out a place for herself among a group of fellow outsiders, she continues to struggle for a sense of belonging.

Vienna even though became her new lifestyle but she doesn't feel she belongs there because of views people have for Iran and how they treat people from iran, and think Iranian are always up for war and consider them savages rather than humans who just want freedom from orthodox societies of iran

Marjane in Europe was interesting to read, (especially her encounter with the nuns) and her portrayal of her depression. I think this was probably my favourite in the series

Ich wusste so gut wie gar nichts über den Iran, also war dieses Buch sehr lehrreich für mich. Einige der Ereignisse waren ziemlich heftig und regen zum Nachdenken an.
