Excellent narration - a well chosen cast. The writing is strong, good pacing and flow. The story , while initially intriguing, devolves into lifetime movie material. The first time I listened to this, I had to stop halfway from all the eye-rolling and forgot about it. However I began relistening from the beginning, and found the other elements kept this story afloat and it earns it a solid 3 stars.

On the whole I enjoyed this book and got into it quickly. However I didn't enjoy the ending. a light read to pass the time.

I rated this book a 4 when I finished, but the more I contemplate my rating, I think maybe it's closer to a 3.5 rounded up. I liked it. I was surprised by a bunch of things throughout the story that I didn't see coming. I was interested in continuing the story, it flowed nicely, wrapped up well, didn't leave any holes in the plot, but I didn't really like any of the characters. I didn't like another book by this author, Not One of Us because the ending was terrible, that was not the case in this book and I'm glad I gave this author another chance. I also read the second book to this that doesn't really tie in to the story, just the town, and that one was excellent, a solid 4.0! I'll keep looking to add Debbie Herbert books to my want to read list!

This was an interesting thriller for sure. Fair enough, I figured out rather quickly "whodonit", but with all the different narratives, both from past and present and the characters interaction with each other made the book worth readig.

Although the book was a bit slow, I still could not put it down and I wanted to find out what happened in Violet's past. I was able to determine the major twists in the book by about halfway, but the author still did a great job of introducing and explaining the twists. The characters were wonderfully written, so much so that you truly begin to think like the main character Violet, and feel her hurt when a certain twist occurs. All-in-all Cold Waters was a great quick read thriller/mystery.

What a page turner!
This book had oodles of good and bad. Good hearted Violet who is suffering from the guilt of an incident over a decade ago. She comes back from a mental health rehab to her hometown and wants to stand on her own two feet. But when she gets to Normal everyone around her is just evil. The only safe place for her was the institution she lived in all those years.
With everyone conniving around her, she has to prove her innocence. And somehow manages to do it.
The mystery of who committed the crime can be figured out early on in the book. The characters were quite well thought of and the writing was apt. It kept the pace easy to read for this book.
A quick and good read!

Got this books as my March Amazon First Reads and absolutely loved it! I’m so happy with my choice! I’m not sure how there’s going to be a second book with how it ended but I guess I will wait and see.
