This is so far my favorite of the series. I think it is so fascinating how the author includes himself within his stories and how he chose to have this novel be about him being accused of murder. The ending was slightly predictable, but it still had quite a bit of a shock factor. I’m definitely wanting to keep going to see what else happens and what we learn about Hawthorne.

I thought it wasn't very well written - lots of inconsitencies, and also as someone who works in theatre he got so many details wrong that I couldn't trust him.

sometimes it’s very clear that horowitz has apparently described himself as “vaguely conservative” - no big homophobia moments from hawthorne this time, but i rolled my eyes at the cultural appropriation section that horowitz wrote in what feels like a defense of himself and all other old middle aged white writers. anthony you can write whatever you want but you have to be respectful about it! no need to get up on your fictional soapbox!
