I think this was one of the best Snow White fairy tale retellings I've read in a long time!

Let's see....This book just sucked me in almost from the start. I finished it within a day. We had the dwarfs. Name another Snow White retelling that has the dwarfs in it because I can't think of any that has them in it other than Once Upon a Time, but that's a tv show, not a book.

The evil queen was evil enough in the way that it was just well done. We had flashbacks for Snow and the evil queen.

The only flaw I saw was that I felt more connected between the other characters instead of the romance plot. I thought the purpose of Henri's story should had happened sooner than it did to make it stand out more. I don't want to give too much more than this because I don't want to spoil it for anybody.

Overall, Mirror, Mirror was still one of the best Snow White retellings. It was a five star read based on the fast paced, characters, flash backs and the connection between other characters and the evil queen herself.

One of the least twisted stories in the series so far! It stayed pretty true to Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. This warmed my heart as the story is so magical already it didn’t need much twisting. It was interesting to read about Snow’s mother and Ingrid and their childhood. I found it surprising how much I related to the Evil Queen and her backstory. She did indeed work hard for all she gained. I did find the ending a bit rushed. I wished there would have been a showdown between the Evil Queen and the Mirror where she had to destroy the one object that brought all of her desires to life and filled her with power. Overall, a good story. I disliked this particular author’s writing style compared to the other authors in the series. One paragraph could last an entire page and it made it seem so lengthy. It was hard to pay attention to and didn’t grasp my attention or imagination like the others did. Not looking forward to her other books in the series.

There are moments in this book that feel straight from the fairy-tale, and there are some really good and interesting ideas to twist the story a little bit. I wish the writing was a little bit more. It's a YA book, but the writing is sparse enough that I think it reads more as middle grade.  For that age group, I think this would be a really great read, but it's not one of those books you're going to look at as an adult and be stunned. Even beyond the writing, the plot depth can be a little lacking and the stakes oversimplified. I did like it though and the love story definitely shines more than in other Snow White retellings. I just wish it committed a little bit harder to it's ideas and offered a little more on most dimensions.
