The Chateau By Tiffany Reisz is a stand alone erotic thriller set in the Original Sinner world. Personally I think you’d enjoy it more if have already read the previous books and fallen in love with Kingsley. Here we get to see young Kingsley sent on a mission into a “cult” where he meets Madame the woman in charge in The Chateau, who takes her inspiration from The Story of O. The Chateau is a house where the women rule and men serve. I have never read The Story of O but I think I need to.

We get to meet some new characters such as the Madame. She is such an interesting character. A sadist and a brutal one. But not in a physical sense. She is fascinating. We also get some old characters. Søren’s presence is all through the story. Even when he’s not there. He is still there.

Tiffany has yet again created an amazing story with out of this world characters. She took us into Kingsley’s past and made me fall in love with him all over again. I swear she is the reason I’m single. No man can compare to a King or a God. She also had me in floods of tears which I was not expecting. And I wish I could quote the part that made me cry. But it would be a spoiler!! Just go read it.

Maaaan I’m so disappointed. I got recommended this by Lauren’s Little Library on TikTok who normally has immaculate taste but there’s no way this was anywhere near five stars for me. There were a lot of copy edits that hadn’t been completed, the writing style was poor, and I found Kingsley’s characterisations to be wildly inconsistent. The wider plot universe (the French spy agency) wanted to make sense so bad but also didn’t really?? Idk. The ending also - again - suffered due to Kingsley’s random and inconsistent mischaracterisation.

There were some really redeeming parts though. Madame was magnificent and I felt she was very well written, and her longer scene towards the end was incredibly well done. Out of the three big plot twists at the end, only one of them got me. (
Bernie being the informant I wouldn’t have guessed. The pregnancy (fake as it was) and the husband I did guess
.) I really truly liked the idea but I was yawning in a lot of the execution, and while I get it was an erotica book, it actually would’ve worked so well as a thriller perhaps? Idk. Some of the earlier sex scenes were given a lot of weight when I don’t think it was necessary.

Idk I’m just a bit salty as I’d been looking forward to reading this for well over a year lol.

This novel is set in the original sinners universe and it stars Kingsley Edge as a 24 year old spy recovering from his last mission. He is asked to go undercover in a female dominated sex cult to recover his boss' nephew. I am a huge fan of Tiffany Reisz's original sinners series so I was so excited to see an early review copy through netgalley of The Chateau. We get to see Kingsley in the years he was apart from Soren and pining for their lost relationship. At times I actually cried because Reisz wrote about Kingsley's heartbreak so well that I felt his pain acutely. I also laughed out loud at some of Kingsley's dialogue. I love how adorably cocky and arrogant he is! I absolutely loved the novel. It was sexy and thrilling and was a great continuation of the series. Please buy the book when it becomes available on June 5th and support an amazing author.
