“um what just happened” was my thought process throughout reading this. i was utterly confused towards the end but in a good way. i had all the pieces but i was still unable to put the puzzle together. props to the author for creating such a untangled and intertwined book. i enjoy movies where each time you watch it you discover something new that you missed before. i feel this is the book equivalent to that. i want to read it again just to see how blind i was the first read through.

for my second proper thriller, i was hooked. the book was fast paced and the cliffhanger at the end of each chapter was a smart tactic to keep me awake late at night reading. it had a very spooky vibe and i definitely felt it being home alone

This book took me quite awhile to get into to. I didn’t really care about any of the characters so I found picking the book up when I put it down for awhile hard. Then we got to the twists, multiple twists. That was done so well! It was such a fun ride to watch everything unravel.

Really great twist - made me want to go back and reread to look for the clues. Probably her best so far that I’ve read.

Adam, a famous screenwriter and Amelia, a dog shelter worker, are taking a weekend trip to Scotland in attempt to save their marriage. From the start everything about the trip seems off. As strange events start occurring around them, they each learn you don’t always know everything about who you married.
What I liked: the plot and the twists I never saw coming.
What I didn’t like: Adam has Prosopagnosia and it seemed like he constantly described the inability to see others faces as “swirling Van Goghs.” Would have like some more descriptors.
