This is a series I whole-heartedly love, but I couldn't 5-star this one. Rachel continues to have blind spots that she can't seem to work through, and she also hasn't learned that she can't shoulder everything herself. Her growth, which I've previously praised throughout the series, is pretty stagnant here. I'm also a little concerned about the direction the next book may be going in. But will I read the next book? Absolutely.

I’m so glad Kim Harrison is still writing this series. There is still so much story to be told and I hope she never stops. Rachel is constantly juggling her problems that always seems to resolve but in such a way as to create more story. The final scene at the end of this book makes me angry that I have to wait probably a year for the next one. I can’t wait.
