i found the story interesting in the beginning. however, as it progressed, i didn't feel like it drew me in any further. it's short and quite fast-paced, but it also felt like not much actually happened, sort of like it went by in a blur.
i liked the premise, but I don't think i ever felt connected to the characters in any way.
overall, I'd say that it was pretty average. it didn't feel very profound or reflective. i wouldn't think of recommending it to someone, and won't re-read it either.

Ohhhhh boy. So. This was was disappointing. I’d heard phenomenal things about this manga, and at the beginning, it seemed like it could follow through on those expectations. The premise was interesting, unique, and provided plenty of room for darkly existential musing, and I was incredibly interested by the two central characters and how the dynamic between them would play out. And then, somewhere in the middle, I started losing interest. By the end, I just didn’t really care about the characters or the story as much and kind of finished it by going “ok neat onto the next thing I guess.” If I had to pinpoint one specific part where it lost me, I’d probably have to say the scene in the train station. As a rule, I prefer any and all non-con elements to stay out of a romance between two main characters. Was the non-con scene in this simply a hypothetical, and not actually carried out any further than the main character placing a hand on the romantic interest? Yes. Was it included to show the incredible strain put on the main character and display the depths to which a person can sink in such a situation? Also yes. But here’s the thing. I just don’t like ANY of that stuff in between two characters who I want to develop a relationship, and it was just brushed aside wayyyyyy too quickly for me to be okay with its inclusion in the first place. Overall, it just felt a bit icky to me and ended up taking me out of the story to the point where I felt much less invested in the relationship between the two MCs, which, as I said earlier, continued to wane throughout the rest of the series. In addition, even though this was only eighteen chapters, it still managed to feel somewhat meandering during the second half. I think were it approached with more intention and sculpted into a slightly more airtight plot/sequence of events,I would have enjoyed it a bit more. I suppose my main issue with it is just that it felt like it lost its spark for me pretty early on. While it wasn’t an unenjoyable read by any means, it wasn’t a particularly special one, either. It also felt heavily saturated by the fact that it was written by a man, for men-- the specific framing of the tragedy and the respective roles that the male lead and the female lead played makes a lot of sense for why most men I've heard review this series view it as a transcendent, emotional experience, but I felt absolutely nothing other than vague annoyance at its continual and increasingly convoluted twists and turns.
